Ultratelephoto photography is easily achieved with your telescope by purchasing this T-mount adapter, along with the SLR camera adapter which works with your telescope. You'll need to take precautions to minimize vibrations, such as locking up the mirror if possible as well as using a cable release or remote control to fire the shutter. First, remove the eyepiece.
Next, attach the SLR camera adapter where the eyepiece would normally be attached to the telescope, and screw in this t-mount adapter to the opposite end of the SLR camera adapter. Now you can attach your camera to the t-mount and you are ready to begin taking pictures!
Note: Your camera will need to be in fully manual exposure mode, although some brands of camera may also work in aperture-priority autoexposure mode. Additionally, if there is a switch on the camera which chooses the focus mode, that switch must indicate manual focusing. Rated 5 out of 5 by E. Wynkoop from Pristine Fit and Threads I got this adapter for my Canon 60d to use with deep sky astrophotography. The threads are incredibly perfect in its fit, and the material it is made out of is very rigid yet very lightweight.
T Adapter Telescope
It sealed nicely against the camera body and had very minimal movement once seeded. I have several different filters, reducers, and SCT rings that this threads onto flawlessly. The one and only thing that is not great about it is the marking of the dot to align for attachment.
Out of the box it was very not visible, but it was easily corrected with a whiteout pen. Rated 3 out of 5 by Jon from Works but somewhat dangerous Works pretty well. This in combination with the Celestron adapter has made it possible to take some pretty cool pictures. However, during the second use, the little screws on the side came loose and would have resulted in my camera falling off of the telescope had I not been paying attention. Make sure you locate the little screws and find the appropriate sized allen wrench. Take it with you and make sure they are tight before you walk away from your camera unattended. Rated 4 out of 5 by Ralph from Camera mount for a Canon Rebel SLR This will work with out the Celestron Slr (35mm Or Digital) Camera Adapter.
But I would suggest you get the adapter. It makes it easier to connect the camera and line up the picture. With the adapter you just slip the camera in where the eye piece goes. Wish they would of put their marking on the outside where I could see it for lining up locking plate holes. Dot of a marking pen cured this problem.
There is a moon adapter to block the amount of light. Either you have to change the iso or buy the lens filter.
Either taking pictures of the Moon or terrestrial your pictures will be too bright. Rated 4 out of 5 by RustyCannon from It works I use this with my Canon EOS camera. The bayonet mount on the EOS has a white dot and a red dot for aligning the lense to the body correctly. This adapter has a tiny silver dot that I mistook for white, so at first I was trying to mate the camera body to this adapter using the silver dot to align with the white dot. I finally figured out that the dot wasn't white but silver. When I align it with the red dot on the camera body, mating it easy. Too bad they didn't take the care to just put a dot of red paint on that silver mark.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from A perfect fit This allowed my wife to mount a Celestron Ultima 80 Straight spotting scope directly to her Canon Rebel digital camera. The rubber eye cup on the scope (20x60 eyepiece) comes right off and will allow a direct thread with this T-mount. No other adapter was needed. Creating and deleting saved slideshows iphoto 6 for mac mac. She took a few photos of the super moon that night with a tripod and they came out great. It all locked up rock solid but I will look for a brace of some sort to stabalize the whole unit by connecting the threaded mount on the camera body with the mount on the scope. The whole unit is quite large and heavy, but there was no play between the two. I do not know if this will work on the angled spotting scope or any other for that matter.
I contacted the tech. At B&H to confirm and they were very helpful as expected. If you have a spotting scope, call the techs and I bet they will help you find the exact model needed. Lots of fun and this adapter allows her to add a new element to her photography.
Thank you B&H Photo! Rated 5 out of 5 by Nimesh from Good quality with better price. I am new to telescope. I really like to look at the moon and planets. One day, I though about storing my mental memories to physical. I had a camera and I need a t ring and t ring adaptor for my telescope. And here at B & H they had those pieces.
While doing some research, I came across this t ring and t adaptor. I compared prices on Google and on. and even on.
The lowest price I found was on B&H. When I got the product, I was very amazed by the quality. SOLID AND STURDY. Now I am on my project for taking pictures of the moon and planets.
I am using the following products. Celestron starseeker 130mm.
Canon EOS T3i. Celestron T ring+T adaptor. Combination of 6mm 9mm 32mm and 40mm eyepieces with Barlow lenses. The picture quality looks like pro. And I am just the beginner for the astro photography. Good thing that I bought t ring and t adaptor. And I would highly recommend to everyone who has telescope to get this t ring and t adaptor.
Just to make sure to get t ring according to camera make and model.
Not sure if you got this figured out already.I have a 6SE and ran into some similar problems.Although I have it working now, I haven't used mine outside yet. I am still new with my, so want to get familiar with it first.
But I am a computer guy, so still needed the challenge of getting it working at least. I don't have enough posts to put links in the message, so Google what I am listing and they are the first links you will see. There are two sets of directions you need to follow to get things working. First, assuming you have Lion: Google: PL2303 Serial-USB on OSX Lion Second to do the setup: Google: Using Stellarium to Control your Mount with a Mac - SOLUTION Hope this helps, Rob. PL2303 Serial-USB on OSX Lion Posted on July 24, 2011 by martijn Here’s a way to get you PL2303-based Serial-USB adapter working with OS X Lion (10.7). Based on the osx-pl2303 project on github, The kext file is attached. Installing the kext file can be done in a few easy steps from terminal: download and extract cd /path/to/osx-pl2303.kext cp -R osx-pl2303.kext /System/Library/Extensions/ next you need to fix permissions and execute bits: cd /System/Library/Extensions chmod -R 755 osx-pl2303.kext chown -R root:wheel osx-pl2303.kext cd /System/Library/Extensions kextload./osx-pl2303.kext kextcache -system-cache Next, setting up Stellarium: The first thing to do is to start Stellarium and set up a new connection. This is done by pressing ‘cmd+0’ and then clicking on ‘configure ’. Click ‘add’ which will take you into the ‘Add New Telescope’ dialogue box. Once in here there are a few settings that need to be sorted out: 1.
Celestron Telescope T-adapter For Mac Pro
Under the heading ‘Telescope controlled by:’ click the radio button next to ‘Stellarium, directly through a serial port’; 2. Under the heading ‘Telescope Properties’ give the telescope a name (I chose NEQ6 as this is the make of mount I want to control.) Everything else under this tab can be left as default. Under ‘Device settings’ you then need to tell Stellarium what and where the serial port is. At present the box will display /dev/.
To fill in the correct information go need to go to terminal and type cd /dev followed by the return key then type ls this will list all the devices contained on your system. You are looking for something along the lines of cu.usbserial make sure to copy the cu.xxxxxxxxx and not the tty.xxxxxxxxx into Stellarium and paste it after the /dev/ so you will end up with something like /dev/cu.usbserial 4. Under ‘Device model’ choose ‘ (compatible)’ This will allow control over Sywatcher mounts.
This is as far as you need to go in Stellarium however under ’User interface settings’ you can set some FOV indicators. Once Stellarium is set up you are ready to connect your mount. First start up the mount, enter the usual information, long / lat, date, time etc etc and perform your usual. Once done you can then perform your star alignments or connect to Stellarium. In either case, before you connect to Stellarium it is important to note that you do not need to enter ‘PC Direct Mode’ which is rather counter-intuitive but works! Therefore, when you are ready connect your cable to your Mac and handset and in Stellarium press ‘cmd+0’, it may be necessary to click on ‘configure telescope’ find the and click ‘start’. Now in Stellarium you should see a marker with the scope name next to it.
If you have just connected after polar alignment then this should have the scope marker next to (assuming your scope is parked in this position.) Now you are ready to go. Just find a target, click on it and press ‘cmd+1’ assuming you have one scope set up, your scope should now slew to this target. You can have several set up which will use the number 1-9 and 0 thus if you have a scope set up under number 4 then you will need to press ‘cmd+4’ to slew. Telescope/Mount Drivers
ACL Telescope Controllers (6.0.1)
Installs a driver for telescope control systems that speak the Merlin Controls Astronomy Command Language. Please note that there is a specific driver for the COMSOFT PC-TCS control system below. Version 6.0.1 corrects a COM port setup bug, and has sources for building under Platform 6.Advanced LX-200 Driver (Generic, not for Meade scopes)
Installs a driver that uses a subset of the LX-200 protocol. Use this driver with mounts that purport to use the LX-200 protocol like FS2, Picastro etc..Ascom 2X Mount Adaptor (Paramount, etc., 6.1) for TheSky X and TheSky 5/6 (external link)
This is supplied by Software Bisque and is available from the Downloads section of the Software Bisque site, the file is called Ascom 2X Mount Adaptor Setup.exe
Installs a driver that connects to Software Bisque's TheSky X/6/5 Astronomy Software and makes it look like a standard ASCOM telescope. This allows ASCOM-based astronomy software to use TheSky (including TPOINT and ProTrack) as a smart telescope controller. For more information see Working with TheSky (section 1). It is required for the Paramount mounts, and may be used with TheSky controlling any other of its supported telescope types, or via its built-in outbound ASCOM support, and then using ASCOM telescope drivers. This driver provides Telescope V3 support, 100% conformance, and compatibility with TheSky X (10.2.0 or later). It should also work with TheSky6 and TheSky5 but not all functionality will be present.
Astro-Physics GTO - Factory Supplied Driver and Software
This is the installer for the Astro-Physics factory-supported driver for all Astro-Physics telescope models. Please go to the Astro-Physics Driver web page for their driver and associated software.AstroShop Omegon EQ500X Equatorial Mounts
This is the installer for the Omegon Mount EQ-500X sold by Astroshop.eu. Omegon mounts are a collection of Alt-Az and Equatorial mounts for visual observation and astrophotography. The Conformance report is part of the release. The mounts and driver pass with two errors related to coordinates granularity (1 arcsec minimum).Celestron Unified (6.1.7350, Feb 2020) Telescope & Focuser
Installs a driver for all computerized Celestron telescopes, now including the new Celestron Focuser. NOTE: Focuser moves are prevented if the focuser is not calibrated. Calibrate the Focuser before anything else! Also this driver does its best to compensate for the extra time needed for final approach in slews but which is not reported via the Celestron controller. This driver has passed the Conformance Checker tests. See the help file and release notes(!), installed as part of the driver, for a full description.
This driver does NOT support Synta mounts. Use the Sky-Watcher drivers listed below.
